Founded in March 2011, The SampleBank offers Musicians—especially those working in indie hip hop— thousands of organic, original and innovative non-exclusive samples for use in fashioning new music.

The SampleBank allows Artists to upload samples such as part of their song, the entire song and/or exclusive loops/sounds for retail. See the FAQ for more information. Once the samples have been uploaded Creators (i.e. rap artists, djs and producers) can search the sample library (organized by title, genre and mood) and listen to the samples seeking inspiration.

Each sample can be purchased for $99 (USD) via PayPal or a credit card and comes with a legal non-excusive audio license. Of the $99 65% is the Artist’s cut.

More than just providing a platform for Artists to connect, share and spurring each other on The SampleBank offers 2 additional profiles: the Corporate profile offers small businesses and established companies the opportunity to employ bands/djs for their next event while Fans have the joy of following and discovering bands plus purchasing music from The SampleBank Store.

The Indie rap scene has not flourished as boldly as Indie Music. Rap music relies on samples often from established artists or songs. The convoluted process of acquiring legal authorization is expensive as lawyers and the sample owners must be financially compensated and proper authorization secured.  The high costs of responsibly securing samples coupled with the aptitude to discover quality samples have stunted the Indie rap scene, effectively handcuffing these artists.
